Worried About Recession?

Amid the overwhelming reports of people concerned about the US economy possibly moving into recession, I have one primary admonishment:

Go do something productive!

The more we replace worry with work, the more productive and valuable each of us becomes. As individuals do more and better, the aggregate measure of all people (The Economy) grows and rises.

To say that there is no work or no jobs is to be blind, or at least short-sighted. If you're not facing starvation, you can always do something to better yourself. When you better yourself, by getting healthier or smarter or creating a more supportive home environment, you will either raise your value to future employers, lower your cost of living, or increase your standard of living. Perhaps all three. Simultaneously. Even with no current income.

If you really want to make a difference in The Economy, start a business. Hustle (legally). If you really want to make a difference in the lives of the less-fortunate, go volunteer somewhere. Help yourself, help somebody else, whichever. There's ALWAYS work. Idleness and worry help no one.

Quit telling reporters you're worried and tell them how you're improving yourself and your family. It is not the job of the President or the government to make sure you survive. Take control of yourself. You might still worry, but you will at least assert some power over your destiny.

Now, I've got to get back to work...
