Topic:

We’re heading into local election season in Minneapolis. The deadline to file as a candidate for City Council representing the 55418 has just passed. Kevin Reich, the presumptive winner (by virtue of his DFL endorsement) is facing more challengers than I had expected. Here’s the field, with links to the two campaign websites I could find:

Fox is also a long-time activist, having served as Treasurer and President for the Audubon Neighborhood Association. He also is a founding volunteer of the Northeast Citizen Patrol and maintains the Eastside Defender, a website of local crime news.

Hanna was Treasurer for outgoing Councilmember Ostrow’s campaign. Her address is in the Windom Park neighborhood.

Alessi is the token Republican in the race. His home is in the Northeast Park neighborhood.

Ranallo is chair of the 2nd Precinct Advisory Council (2PAC), a liason group between police and residents. His listed address is in Audubon, although he represented St. Anthony East (in the 3rd Ward) during the 2007 Central Avenue planning process. Ranallo also operates the Moose on Monroe bar in St. Anthony East.
